On April 5, SURS partnered with the State Universities Annuitants Association (SUAA) for our annual legislative "Meet and Greet" in Springfield. Several legislators stopped by the SUAA office in downtown Springfield to talk with SURS and SUAA trustees and staff about issues important to our members.

Officials included: Sen. Pat McGuire (D-43rd District), chairman of the Higher Education Committee; Rep. Carol Ammons (D-103rd District), vice chairperson of the Higher Education Committee and member of the Personnel and Pensions Committee; Rep. Robert Pritchard (R-70th District), member of the Appropriations Committee for Higher Education and the Higher Education Committee; Sen. James Clayborne (D-57th District), Senate majority leader; Rep. Sue Scherer (D-96th District); and State Treasurer Michael Frerichs, trustee of Illinois's three 529 college savings plans.
