Member Service Representative - Retirement Counseling Team

Main duties:

  • Provide retirement counseling to members via office, phone and on-campus appointments
  • Calculate retirement estimates in advance of counseling sessions, using information received from members and employer agencies
  • Analyze member files for completeness and accuracy
  • Calculate costs of service credit purchases
  • Provide customer service to SURS members, employers and other stakeholders
  • Participate in all areas of SURS member outreach efforts, including planning and conducting educational presentations and retirement education seminars for large groups of members
  • Participate as an active member of the counseling team

Desirable Credentials and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, or associate’s degree and at least one year of customer service experience, or high school diploma with three years of customer service related experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with public speaking to groups of all sizes
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical, problem solving skills
  • Ability to work independently coupled with the ability to work as a member of a fast-paced team
  • Must be able to drive a vehicle and travel within the state of Illinois
